For more than 35 years, I was often the only technical woman in the room. As an engineer, I held a range of technical and leadership roles—working directly with CEOs, presidents, VPs, and high-profile clients. Along the way, I mentored engineers, scientists, program managers, and technicians who, like me, were navigating demanding and often unbalanced workplaces.

My career was both rewarding and challenging. I built cutting-edge products, led complex teams, and enjoyed the financial and intellectual rewards of the work. But I also faced bias, ethical crossroads, and moments where walking away was the only option. There were few female role models to turn to—and no one to truly talk to about the realities of being a woman in STEM.
